|
1pm - 2:00 PST
[9pm - 10:00 GMT] OnLive Traveler at http://ok.actlab.utexas.edu/ Vernon Reed ("Kahuna"), ACTLab, U of Texas will host a group discussion on the topic: Being Multiple: Distributed Subjectivity in Cyberspace
The nature of cyberspace seems to tease apart the strands of
monolithic self which are so tightly wound in "real world" life. What are
the implications of digital embodiment for the evolution of our subject
stance? Can we live parallel lives through our avatars? Do we want to?
Vernon Reed teaches and presents the state of the art in the field of 'Inhabited Virtual Worlds,' along with such collateral issues as VRML, on-line community building, and
psychological and sociological implications of digital embodiment. |
