Avatars: CyberSpace with a Human Face

Hey what is Cyberspace going to look like in the 21st Century? Well, there might only be the Web, and we will we be surfing documents and interfacing with databases until the end of our days.

We say No Way!

We want to see the virtual worlds of Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and William Gibson's Neuromancer. We want Cyberspace to become a place, not just an interface. We want to go way beyond the Web. Well, take a look at what is happening right now in 1997..

And there is more in the Gallery of Virtual Worlds.

The Human Race is entering Cyberspace as avatars and virtual worlds spread across the net creating a whole new interactive and social experience online.

So what is Avatars 97? It is a meeting of the frontier cyber-tribes, those pioneers who dare to build the true Cyberspace. We met at this time last year for the first time at Earth to Avatars, learned a lot, and had a great time. We will meet again this October 22-24 in San Francisco at Avatars 97. This year we will have a program expanded to three days, including a great opening plenary panel, first class sessions, demonstrations and exhibits, and of course parties!

Come to Avatars ’97 and experience a whole new Cyberspace!
