What it is all about

A virtual re-enactment of the apollo moon landings of 1969 carried out in Moon World on July 20th, 1999 with Apollo Astronaut Rusty Schweickart attending and telling his story to a live avatar audience.

Avatars99 Colonizing Cyberspace is all about the people, worlds and stories of the settlement of an "inhabited Cyberspace". One of the key parts of the show this year is a showcase of worlds, their builders and stories of the happenings and histories of the communities within them. Many of you out there have built worlds, created communities and have a story to tell. One good example of this the Moon world (featured above) and its special event held back on July 20th of this year. There are two ways to submit your world and or story to Avatars99:

  • The Grande Tour of Worlds: lead a live tour through your world during the conference day, Saturday December 4th.
  • The Avatars99 Trail Blazing Tales, stories from the pioneers of cyberspace, signup is now active, click here to enter your story. (note that this is a beta test for this story server so be patient!).

Once you have scheduled your world for a tour or story for a telling, you will be able to present it to a live audience in-world during the December 4th event.

Why don't you tell us what you would like to do in-world and in-person on the big day in one or more of the conference event worlds by filling out our convenient form below? Also, dont forget to get signed up on the Newsfeed for updates.

Signup is now closed! We hope to see you in-world on the tours!
